Nautical Ampoule (30 min)

This hourglass is a nautical ampoule probably from the 16th century by an unknown author and is in the Naval Museum of Madrid. Its ampoule has an approximate duration of 30 minutes.

The three places where the use of the hourglass was most strongly implanted were the working cabinet, the pulpit and the ship on long voyages. In navigation it played its most important role. The ship's clock or ampoule, called by the sailors simply "ampoule", used to have a duration of half an hour.
